General Manager
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and overall direction for the organization, ensuring the achievement of business objectives, sustainable growth, operational excellence, and financial performance. The GM serves as the principal leader of the organization, driving business strategy, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring alignment between corporate goals and day-to-day operations.
The role oversees all functional areas of the business, including operations, finance, human resources, sales and marketing, commercial activities, customer experience, compliance, and business development. The General Manager is accountable for maximizing organizational performance, profitability, stakeholder value, and long-term sustainability while ensuring adherence to governance, regulatory requirements, and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Corporate Management
Develop and execute the organization's strategic vision, business plans, and long-term objectives.
Lead the implementation of corporate initiatives, growth strategies, and organizational transformation projects.
Translate strategic priorities into measurable operational goals and performance targets.
Advise executive leadership and stakeholders on business opportunities, risks, market trends, and strategic decisions.
Ensure alignment between departmental objectives and overall organizational goals.
Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across all business functions.
Operational Leadership
Direct and oversee all organizational operations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and service excellence.
Establish operational frameworks, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Monitor business performance and implement corrective actions to address operational challenges.
Ensure optimal utilization of resources, systems, technology, and organizational capabilities.
Drive productivity improvements and operational efficiencies throughout the organization.
Foster collaboration and integration across departments to achieve business objectives.
Financial Management & Business Performance
Assume full accountability for organizational profitability, financial performance, and budget management.
Develop and oversee annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Monitor key financial indicators, revenue streams, costs, and profitability metrics.
Implement effective cost-control measures while maintaining service quality and operational standards.
Evaluate investment opportunities and support strategic financial decision-making.
Ensure responsible stewardship of organizational assets and resources.
Business Development & Growth
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue-generating initiatives.
Strengthen relationships with clients, investors, government entities, strategic partners, and stakeholders.
Support market expansion and diversification strategies.
Drive commercial performance and organizational competitiveness.
Represent the organization in industry forums, business meetings, conferences, and networking events.
Leadership & People Management
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing management team.
Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, collaboration, and continuous development.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance guidance to department heads and senior managers.
Ensure effective succession planning and talent development strategies.
Promote employee engagement, diversity, inclusion, and organizational values.
Lead organizational change management initiatives effectively.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, corporate governance requirements, and industry standards.
Establish effective risk management and internal control frameworks.
Monitor legal, financial, operational, and reputational risks.
Ensure organizational policies and procedures are implemented consistently.
Promote ethical business practices and corporate responsibility.
Maintain transparency and accountability in all business operations.
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
Champion customer-centric strategies to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.
Maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Address critical customer and stakeholder concerns when necessary.
Protect and enhance the organization's reputation and brand image.
Ensure stakeholder expectations are effectively managed and exceeded whenever possible.
Performance Management & Reporting
Establish and monitor organizational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Review departmental performance and ensure accountability for results.
Present operational, financial, and strategic performance reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Utilize data-driven insights to support informed decision-making.
Lead performance improvement initiatives to drive sustainable results.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Hospitality Management, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Master's Degree (MBA or equivalent) is highly preferred.
Minimum 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior executive or General Management role.
Proven track record of successfully leading complex organizations, business units, or multi-site operations.
Strong experience in strategic planning, financial management, operational leadership, and organizational development.
Demonstrated ability to drive business growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
Experience in corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Strong commercial acumen and business development capabilities.
Excellent understanding of organizational performance management and change leadership.
Fluency in English; Arabic language proficiency is highly desirable.
